I wrote the program HamLogBook initially because I wanted a simple program to handle my ham calls. Most of the programs I found were too involved and recorded and did more things than I needed.

I wanted something straightforward: a ham radio logbook where I could enter my contacts and maintain my amateur radio log without having to learn a complicated system.

I originally developed HamLogBook using Microsoft Access. Since I had been writing Access programs and databases since Microsoft released Access in 1992, it was a natural place to start.

I later developed a C# version of the software. The C# version allowed HamLogBook to be much smaller and more self-contained than the original MS Access version.

The goal has remained the same: provide Windows ham radio software that is straightforward and easy to use.

General Logging Software for Amateur Radio

HamLogBook is primarily general logging software for amateur radio operators.

Unlike specialized contesting software and contest logging software, HamLogBook was created around the everyday amateur radio operator who simply wants to keep a record of his or her contacts.

I wrote HamLogBook because I wanted a simple program to handle my ham calls.

I first wrote the program in MS Access. I have been writing Access programs and databases since Microsoft Access was released in 1992.
